Life is a colorful adventure when you have a quirky best friend like Maggie. Maggie Mayer, known for her infectious laughter, free spirit, and her need to know everyone’s favorite color, graced many Pittsburgh stages in multiple roles including, but not limited to, a pot head, a pirate, a prostitute, a racist, a ghost, a homicidal mother, a famous actress, a singing biblical figure, and a cat on a hot tin roof. Maggie was famous for absolutely killing “At Last” at karaoke joints all over Pittsburgh and many attempted “Dirty Dancing lifts” in random bars in and around the city. Most of all, Maggie was known for her fierce friendship and her worldly, albeit quirky, advice. Favorite Colors, a new play by Sara Baines-Miller, explores how colorful the ups and downs of life can really be when you view the world with Maggie’s red-tinted bad-ass sunglasses.
